Welcome to Lunna Kirk
Lunna Kirk (St. Margaret’s) is situated in the centre of Lunna, part of the parish of Lunnasting on the northeast coast of the Shetland Mainland.
The Kirk is now owned and operated by Lunna Kirk Preservation Group and is available for hire.

A rich history
The Kirk’s rich history spans the generations. It is believed that it may date back as far as the 1100s as a place of Christian worship. It is by far the oldest working church in Shetland. And, today, its congregation and many visitors still find Lunna Kirk a place of great historic and spiritual importance.



Unique Features
It is an impressive space that has a good and intimate connection to the pulpit. Access to the gallery comes by an exterior stone stair, another fine feature that adds to the unique qualities of Lunna Kirk

It is hoped that the Kirk can continue to thrive for future generations.
It is available to hire for social and private occasions, such as:
wedding ceremonies, baptisms, funeral services, concerts, meetings, and fund-raising events.
